How much does Umrah cost from Nigeria? Full price breakdown

What you pay for Umrah from Nigeria depends mostly on four things: when you travel, how close your hotel is to the Haram, how many people share your room, and the exchange rate when you pay. This guide explains what a package should include, what pushes the price up or down, and the costs that sit outside a package, so you can compare offers with confidence.

What an Umrah package from Nigeria includes

Most Umrah packages sold in Nigeria bundle the same core items, but the details vary. Check each line before comparing prices.

An example: our December package. Kasfah Hajj Travels’ December Umrah from Lagos and Abuja starts from ₦4,000,000 per person. It includes return flights, 5-star hotels with daily breakfast, ground transportation, visa assistance and a scholar who travels with the group. See the December package from Nigeria.

What makes Umrah cost more or less

  1. When you travel. Ramadan, especially its last ten nights, and the December holidays are the busiest and most expensive times, because hotels near the Haram fill up. Quieter months cost less. For about six weeks around Hajj, Umrah isn’t possible at all: Saudi Arabia stops issuing Umrah permits from 1 Dhu al-Qi’dah until after Hajj.
  2. How close your hotel is to the Haram. Hotels within walking distance cost far more than ones that need a shuttle. For most pilgrims, especially older ones, distance matters more than star rating.
  3. Room sharing. Packages are usually priced per person with four sharing a room. Triple and double rooms cost more per person.
  4. Flights. Fares from Lagos and Abuja rise in peak periods, and direct flights usually cost more than routes with a stop. Booking early helps.
  5. The exchange rate. Hotels, transport and Saudi fees are paid in riyals or dollars, so naira prices move with the exchange rate. A package quoted in naira can change if the naira weakens before you’ve paid.
  6. Package level. A scholar-led group with guided ziyarah and 5-star hotels costs more than a basic package with flights and a hotel only.

Costs on top of the package

  • Visa. Nigeria isn’t on Saudi Arabia’s tourist eVisa list, so most Nigerian passport holders need a dedicated Umrah visa arranged through a licensed provider. It’s only issued once your hotel is registered on Saudi Arabia’s Nusuk platform. If you hold a US, UK or Schengen visa that you’ve already used, or residency in one of those places, you may qualify for the eVisa instead. Our Saudi visa guide explains both routes, and our guide to getting an Umrah visa from Nigeria walks through each step.
  • Vaccinations. Saudi Arabia requires every Umrah pilgrim to show proof of meningococcal ACYW vaccination. Travellers from Nigeria also need a yellow fever certificate and a polio (IPV) dose given at least four weeks before arrival.
  • Passport. It must be valid for at least six months beyond your return date, so renew early if yours is close.
  • Insurance. Saudi Arabia’s mandatory pilgrim health insurance comes with the visa. Consider separate travel insurance for things it may not cover, such as cancelling before you leave Nigeria.
  • Spending money. Budget for meals not in your package, local transport, gifts, and Ihram clothing for men if it isn’t provided.
  • Excess baggage. Zamzam water and shopping on the way home can take you over your allowance.

How to get the best value

  • Book early, especially for December and Ramadan, when flights and hotels near the Haram sell out first.
  • Compare like with like: the same hotel distance, the same nights in Makkah and Madinah, the same room sharing and the same inclusions. A cheap package with a hotel far from the Haram can cost more in taxis and tiredness.
  • Ask what “visa assistance” means, and whether the visa fee itself is in the price.
  • Ask how the exchange rate affects your price if the naira moves before you’ve paid in full.
  • Book with a licensed operator. Kasfah Hajj Travels is licensed by Nigeria’s National Hajj Commission (NAHCON). A licensed operator handles your visa and arrangements through the official channels.
