How to book Hajj from Canada: Nusuk Hajj step by step

Booking Hajj from Canada isn’t like booking a holiday. Places are limited, Saudi Arabia controls who can book and through which platform, and the process starts months before you travel. This guide explains how Hajj booking works for people living in Canada, step by step, with the dates, requirements and costs to plan around for Hajj 2027.

Two ways to book Hajj from Canada

How you book depends on the passport you travel on.

  • Canadian citizens and residents of Canada book through Nusuk Hajj, Saudi Arabia’s official online platform for pilgrims from Europe, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand. You register on the platform and choose a package from a provider Saudi Arabia has authorised. Registration is based on your country of residence, and you’ll be asked for proof that you live in Canada.
  • Nigerian passport holders living in Canada can book with a Nigerian Hajj operator licensed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Kasfah Hajj Travels is one, and our Hajj packages are arranged for guests on a Nigerian passport who live in Canada, the US or the UK, with departures from Toronto. More on that below.

Whichever route you take, never pay for Hajj through anyone outside these channels. Saudi Arabia says no other intermediaries are authorised to register pilgrims.

How to book on Nusuk Hajj, step by step

Nusuk sets out the process in ten steps. In practice, it looks like this:

  1. Create an account on hajj.nusuk.sa. Select Canada as your country of residence, enter your email and confirm it with a one-time code.
  2. Upload your documents. A passport scan, a personal photo and proof of residence in Canada.
  3. Complete your application and add family members if you’re travelling together. Up to seven family members can be added to one account.
  4. Wait for verification. Nusuk checks your details and documents.
  5. Choose your preferred category. Packages come in three levels: Luxury, Premium and Standard.
  6. Top up your eWallet. Payments go through Nusuk’s eWallet, which you can fund in advance.
  7. Browse the authorised providers and their packages. Compare hotels, the location of your camp in Mina, flights and what’s included.
  8. Book a package when booking opens. Places go on a first-come, first-served basis, and popular packages sell out quickly.
  9. Pay in full by the due date. If you miss it, the booking can be cancelled automatically.
  10. Receive your Hajj visa and itinerary. The visa is issued as part of your Nusuk package; a tourist or visit visa can’t be used for Hajj.

Registering an account doesn’t guarantee you a place. Canada’s allocation is limited, and booking opens in phases, so be ready when your phase opens.

When to register for Hajj 2027

Hajj 1448 is expected around 15 to 16 May 2027 (the Day of Arafah), depending on the moon sighting.

Saudi Arabia hasn’t yet published the 2027 booking dates for Nusuk Hajj. As a guide, for Hajj 2026 account registration opened in October and November 2025, a package preference phase followed in January 2026, and package booking opened about four months before Hajj. Nusuk has already opened a “register your interest” form for 2027, which doesn’t reserve a place. Check hajj.nusuk.sa regularly from October onwards.

Who can go: eligibility rules

  • Age. Pilgrims from abroad must be at least 12.
  • Women. Women of any age can perform Hajj without a mahram, according to the Government of Canada’s travel advice.
  • Under-18s. Must travel with a family member. A child travelling with only one parent needs a notarised consent letter from the other parent.
  • Health. Saudi Arabia asks for a medical certificate confirming you’re fit for Hajj. People with conditions such as major organ failure, dementia, a high-risk or late pregnancy, active tuberculosis or cancer under active treatment aren’t permitted.
  • Residency. For Nusuk Hajj, you need proof that Canada is your country of residence. Whether people on study or work permits qualify isn’t stated clearly, so check with Nusuk before you rely on it.

Health and travel requirements

  • Meningitis (meningococcal ACYW). Required for all pilgrims, at least 10 days before arrival. A conjugate vaccine is valid for five years; a polysaccharide vaccine for three.
  • Other vaccines. COVID-19 vaccination may be required for high-risk groups, and the seasonal flu vaccine is recommended. Polio and yellow fever rules depend on the country you’re travelling from.
  • See a travel clinic early. The Government of Canada recommends a visit about six weeks before you travel.
  • Check the travel advice. Read the Government of Canada’s advice on Hajj and Umrah and the current Saudi Arabia travel advisory before you book.

What Hajj from Canada costs

Nusuk doesn’t publish prices; each authorised provider sets its own. What you pay depends mainly on:

  • The category. Luxury (5-star hotels), Premium (4-star) or Standard (3-star or residential buildings).
  • Your camp in Mina. Camps closer to the Jamarat cost more than those further out.
  • Room sharing. A bed in a room for two to four people is standard; fewer people per room costs more.
  • Length of stay and flights. Packages run from about 10 to 14 days, plus flights from Canada.

When comparing packages, check exactly what’s included: flights, meals, transport between the holy sites, the sacrifice (qurbani) and the services in your Mina and Arafat tents.

Never go without a Hajj permit

Saudi Arabia enforces “no permit, no Hajj”. Performing or attempting Hajj without a permit can mean a fine of SAR 20,000, deportation and a 10-year ban on entering the country. Fake Hajj offers circulate every year, often on social media. Pay only through Nusuk or a licensed operator, and be wary of anyone promising a guaranteed place for a cash payment.
